HBO Prepares to Air the 1st Prison Documentary Recorded by an Inmate
His name is Omar Broadway. He was a New Jersey prison inmate who snuck a video camera into a maximum security prison and was able to record some of his time incarcerated. The documentary is currently scheduled to premiere on HBO on July 14th.
Billed as the first film ever directed behind bars, the movie took over three years to plan as Omar worked out an angle to sneak a camera inside.
He recorded footage for six months in Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey which included footage of abuse from guards, beat-downs and interaction with The Bloods street gang that he was an active member of.

I watched the documentary today. It was very disturbing. But, it was very eye-opening. My fiance has been in and out of prison and jail in Maryland for years. He never gave me any info on inmate brutality. But, I knew that it occurred. Because, there would be times he would ask me to wait to come visit because of an incident. But, he would not tell me about it. I did get involved as much as possible to help him. He now has, i guess grown out of the prison sytstem–thank god. But, I just wanted to let you know that-any supposrt I can give to this cause–I will do so as best I can. THIS MUST STOP!!!!!!!!! All My Best! Rhonda, Tampa, Florida.
Where & how did u watch it? I can’t find it
